Hello, my name is Will and I am 4 years old..  I am Katelin's brother and these are some of my favorite rocks from my collection.

This is Amethyst.  I recently got this at the Delaware Mineralogical Society collector's show at the 'Junior Table'.  It's Big, Purple and Sparkly.

This is my 'Brain Rock'.  I am not sure what type of rock it is, but I think it looks like a brain.

This rock is really cool: it is black with little bits of sparkly colors in it.

METAMORPHIC ROCKS

Metamorphic Rocks are formed by the alteration of pre-existing rocks through the action of heat, pressure, and or chemical action.  The original rock might have been igneous, sedimentary, or even metamorphic.  The changes include the formation of new minerals out of old ones as well as the rearrangement of existing minerals.  Metamorphic rocks grade from only slightly altered to highly "metamorphosed."  The new minerals formed provide a clue as to the intensity of metamorphism.
